Context

ChopEasy is a reimagined cutting board designed to empower individuals with one-handed mobility. Built upon the classic wooden cutting board, ChopEasy incorporates innovative features that bring ease and independence to the kitchen. A sturdy screw clamp ensures the board stays firmly in place, offering unparalleled stability during use. Above the board, a slider and two fixed columns provide additional support, allowing users to securely hold food items in place without the need for a second hand.
Problems Overcomed

Our initial idea was to take one of the ideas and make digital and physical models.

However, we found that users need to make a series of subtle adjustments during the production process. Because they will cut vegetables into different thicknesses according to their needs. At the same time, we also need a supporter to fix the food (because we are designing for amputees).
The Big Change
After a series of conversations with the professor and TA, we made a very dangerous decision: to overturn everything and start over. We needed to redefine our idea and redesign the model.

This is the electronic and version of our first prototype. You can see that we have completely overturned our original idea. All the parts of the cutting board are designed to serve amputees. For example, the pull rod that can be operated with one hand, and the groove under the cutting board to help fix it to the table.
